Delivering Inclusive RSE in Special Schools
09:30 AM – 03:30 PM
A one‑day, high‑impact course for PSHE leads, SENCOs, teachers and senior leaders working with learners with learning disabilities in special or specialist settings.   This is an interactive remote session with a mix of facilitator‑led input, small‑group activities and space for professional discussion. There are regular breaks throughout the 9.30–3.30 programme, and plenty of opportunities to share ideas, ask questions, gain reassurance, and connect with colleagues.   This is a foundation course that gives you the core knowledge and confidence to deliver effective, inclusive and compliant RSE/RSHE for learners with SEND. We’ll unpack current guidance, explore values and attitudes in SEND contexts, and look at how to create safe, accessible and engaging learning experiences for young people with a range of learning disabilities.   The session is grounded in real classroom challenges and situations that educators often feel alone in encountering. It offers clear, adaptable strategies you can personalise for each student you teach. You’ll leave with a strong foundation for shaping meaningful, needs‑led RSE in your own setting, alongside a digital pack of practical resources to support you after the training. By the end of the day, you will:  Understand the new RSHE guidance and what it means for teaching and learning in special schools  Recognise what high‑quality RSE looks like, with specific considerations for the SEND classrooms. Explore approaches to key topics such as touch and consent, public vs private, personal boundaries and safety  Reflect on individual learners’ experiences and identify strategies to overcome barriers  Discover a range of adaptable teaching resources and practical ways to build essential skills  Increase your confidence in designing and delivering age‑appropriate RSE for both primary and secondary SEND learners  Share practice, insights and ideas with colleagues from across the sector, building your professional network How to take part: the training runs using zoom. Meeting ID and password will be emailed in advance.  Contact info@sexeducationforum.org.uk for enquiries.
